June 30, 2011 The neckline of my favourite sweater had stretched unbearably wide. fixed it with some ribbing into a folded crew neck. Perfect and back in business!

It’s done, finished, ready and over. Somehow I feel sad; this was such a nice project to knit by the television, in the garden, in the car etc. My first experiment with a top-down construction which will presumable become my one-and-only method in the future. Gives good control over the project and your yarn while you’re at it plus produces garments that really fit. What a strange thing for a not-so-skilled knitter! :-)
I put extra lenght to the body and knitted 37 cm (the instructions said 32,5 cm for size M) from underarm before the 14 rounds in garter stitch at the hem line.
I’m really happy with the result; this will be my top choice for the autumn casual wardrobe, forest hikes and country outings. Villa Laurila’s Kainuunharmas proved out to be just perfect for Suvi’s elegant design: simple, bouncy, rustic and unposh as if to make a statement “this is a pullover, stupid, not a long-sleeved-crew-neck-cable-top” as the contemporary fashionistas prefer to interpret our darling woollies. Back to basics, aye?
Finished measurements: bust circumference 100 cm, overall length 60 cm, sleeve length 68 cm. No “blocking” was required, I just carefully hand-washed it and let it dry neatly flat on a smooth surface.

Finally on the needles! Must be careful with the row counts. Yarn behaves very promisingly.

The pattern has waited for a loooooong time in my Ravelry library, and the yarn propably equally long in my stash. Now I finally have the time to attack this beauty.
Did some swatching yesterday: needles no 3,5 mm will presumably be the best choice, as I look forward to getting a sweater that fits but is not to tight. On the basis of the pattern info, size M measures exactly my bust size. In order to avoid a skin-tight result, my gauge (21,3 st x 31.5 rnds) will give some ease to the measurements.
