I’ve had some Qs on how much yarn I used in the Classic Wool. Sorry I didn’t keep better notes (was my 2nd sweater back then--had no idea what I was doing :)) but my best recollection is that I had a fair amount of the third Mercury skein (maybe a third of it left?). I will weigh it…
starting this while spending our last week of summer at the beach…not at all sure about the colors but it was gifted yarn and is what I stashed in my knitting bag. Also not sure if it will be long or short sleeved. But love the pockets that Funinstyle did, so I’m planning on those!
began w/ the lemongrass color for rows 1-5 for the neck, then switched to main Mercury color at row 6 before doing the MO increases at row 7. I really like how the neck looks (so doubt I will go back and add crochet unless it stretches too much).
added an extra set of increases at row 10, then plan to continue per pattern
including progress photo of pockets--it took me a minute to visualize as I’ve never done them before. Hopefully this might help someone. Here is how I did mine: knit 8 stitches, move 15 stitches to waste yarn, cast on (backward loop) 15 stitches, knit 17 st, move 15 to waste yarn, cast on 15, knit 8, knit back. Then knit two full rounds. On next round, added a centered buttonhole on each pocket (yarnover, slip one, knit one, pass the slipped stitch over).
Went longer with the body--unblocked it hit about 2 inches past my waist & grew another 2 inches blocked. I ended the body with 4 rounds of woven stitch before binding off.
Went with short sleeves. I transferred the sleeve stitches from waste yarn + evenly spaced picked up stitches on underarm, gave me 51 stitches. Knit two rounds in main color, then switched to lemongrass for 4 rounds of weave stitch (knit one, yarn in front, slip stitch purlwise, yarn in back). Bound off in knit, which left little loops on edging. Totally unintentional but like it.
Still need buttons for the pockets. This sweater looked tiny (as in here you go, 8 yr-old niece) before I blocked it but now fits great. Just what I wanted--a simple, rustic knit with a little length in the body. I will be making a striped version of this sweater, no doubt.
