I wanted the contrasting colour on the collar and hem to go all the way around and not gap in the middle where the button band is so I made the following modifications:

1. For body, do provisional cast-on. Knit, placing markers as given in set up row. This is row one of MC stockinette.

2. After knitting all of the MC body, leave sts on holder and pick up and knit button band.

3. After knitting button band, pick up sts from button band and use provisional co sts to knit CC bottom hem as written at the beginning of the “Body” section and the CC collar as written at the end of the “Join Sleeves to Body” section.

4. For pockets, in the section “Bind Off Pockets,” to avoid braid look where the two colours meet at applied I-cord, join cc1 to wrong side, purl across one row, cable co 3 sts and then work applied I-cord as written.

1 March 2013 - Body done to underarms. Started sleeves.
4 March 2013 - Sleeves done and joined to body.
6 March 2013 - Body done, finished button bands, knit collar.
8 March 2013 - Finished bottom hem.
9 March 2013 - Washed and blocking.
7 April 2013 - Finally attached the buttons and pockets.
