Notes

I made these wristwarmers as part of a Christmas gift for my brother’s girlfriend, who I have never met. My dad’s gift advice was something along the lines of, “She likes girl stuff,” so this is my interpretation of “girl stuff.” I thought something handmade would help keep this from being the most generic gift in the world.

I used a thinner yarn and smaller needles than called for in the pattern, so I CO 36 sts and worked the thumb hole over 12 rows. I think I also ended up making the wrist and hand sections slightly longer than indicated in the pattern, mostly because I decided the lengths by trying the mitts on rather than measuring.

Since these are a gift, I took extra care blocking them out (especially since these look like a whole pile of nothing when they come off the needles). I cut out two cardboard rectangles that were 3” wide and blocked the mitts over the cardboard. 3” is a good width to help them look good while laying flat without stretching them out too much for comfortable wear.
