Alison/Spindyeknit is going through some major health crises, and the Thom’s Afghan group has stepped up to the plate to send her well-wishes in afghan form. (We’ve had so many pieces contributed that we’re now making TWO afghans to send -- one for her to keep, and one for her to give away!)

We’re modeling this on Antheras’s “Koigu Stained Glass” blanket, but with black crochet joins to set off the squares of colour.

I’ve volunteered to be the point of assembly, so I’ll be collecting the pieces as they come in and turning them into a blanket as quickly as possible!

Sample square formula, using Koigu KPPPM or other fingering-weight yarn:

CO 54 sts on a size 3 needle.

Row 1: K 27, place marker, K to end.

Row 2: K to 2 sts before marker, K2tog, SSK, K to end.

Row 3: K all sts.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until 4 sts remain.

Next row: K2tog, remove marker, SSK. Break yarn. Draw yarn tail through remaining 2 sts. Weave in ends.
