12/2/13 I’m about to wet block this baby, and I can’t wait to see if it gets bigger than it did when I steam blocked it. The steam block held up pretty well, but I think a wet block will be better for a DK weight shawl.
Wet blocked to - wingspan - 84 inches, length - 34 inches! The length grew a lot compared to the steam block. And I’m pretty sure I could get more length out of it too, but it’s already HUGE!!

I dyed this yarn myself with teabags!
I have 351g of yarn. The small size has 94 rows and the large has 126 rows. I added an extra row to the total to account for the bind off, I’ll be using a shawl percentage calculator to keep track of yardage so I can use as much of my yarn as possible. Hopefully I’ll be able to manage the large size :)

18/12/12 First 10 rows took 4g, when the shawl calculator indicated it should only take 3.5g for the small size. Hmm, looks like I’ll have to go down a needles size and do the small size instead of the large. At least with the calculator I caught this early :)

11/1/13 Cast off this morning. I really want to wear it later, so I’m going to try steam blocking it. Eep! I’ve pinned it out already, and it’s wingspan is 80 inches, about 2 meters!! I’ll wet block it eventually too, so it might even grow a bit more.
So I pinned it out then steamed the heck out of it, then left it pinned out for a couple of hours to make sure it was completely dry. It worked really well! I seriously nearly cried when I tried it on for the first time, it’s so big and it has a lovely weight and drape to it. I am so in love with this shawl!!
