Notes

This is the 5th pair for my Stitch’n’Bitches Sock Club (knit 1 pair in every month of 2013).

Yarn and colors used:

  • Wollmeise off-white (toe)
  • Cephalopod Yarns Skinny Bugga in “Blue Ringed Octopus”
  • Wollmeise in “Ballerina”
  • Wollmeise in “Purple Velvet WD”

Color changes are done using the method of the Blender socks linked above.

Finished yesterday while watching The Hunger Games. Making ribbed socks has one major advantage to me: I don’t need to add the ribbing, which I hate, because I don’t want to bother me with something as tendious as ribbing. Anyway, I cast off using the k2togbl method, which makes a lovely, yet stretchy edge.
As soon as I’ve collected enough yarn scraps, I’ll do them again.

Initially I planned to use the Sweet Tomato heel. But when I came to the point where I should start the heel, I was at my parent’s. They live in in No-Internet-istan, so watching the YouTube video was not option. Luckily I found another non-gusset heel, Hypercycloid’s Toe-Up Sock Recipe.
The pattern worked really good. Instead of doing all the math, I simply used my stitch count to determine my cast-number (This will make sense if you read the pattern). It also was really fast and the second heel looks pretty neat. The first one… uh, I should’ve paid more attention to what I was doing :)

Startitis made me cast on these. I first thought about knitting vanilla socks, but when the toe was finished, I changed my mind. Now I’m doing a 2x2 rib, which is just the right amount of interest. Plus, I’m in the honeymoon phase, and therefore I knit like the wind.
