Notes

I’m using the Wollmeise Lace Colourbag Set for this. The colours already match, the yardage fits (I won’t have too much leftovers) and the set is originally intended to knit a three-coloured shawl. WIN, I’d say.

MC: Schwefel (Sulphur)
CC: Ag 47 (grey)
CC2: PP Nr. 5 dark (purple)

Finished weight: 261 grams
Yarn used: 1327 meters

It is huge. Really. It even grew after washing. Blocking was not something I craved to do, so I just threw it over the rack and left it there.
Thank you, Saalemaedchen, for taking the pic at the Wollefest.
Anyway, I love it. LOOOOOOVE it. It’s the best thing to throw around my shoulders when I’m cold.

21/V/2013
FINISHED! All I need is to sew in the ends and block it gently. And take pictures, of course.
My, this things is freakin’ huge. Seriously, its wingspan must be 3 meters. I threw it around my shoulders and BAM! I loved it again. The relief was huge, too.
I cast off using my favourite decrease cast-off and it worked well. The edges are a tad tight (a lot of people mentioned that), but I can live with it.

Wove in the ends in the evening. Due to the knots I ended up weaving in 10 ends total… Now it is making a round in the washing machine. Let’s hope for sun tomorrow, then I’ll take photos. The colours in the sunlight are ah-mah-zing!

20/V/2013
Almost done. I only need to knit two rows of the last part and then sewing in like 20 ends. I’m a bit disappointed with the yarn, every cake had at least two knotted ends in it. For the price I paid, this is not acceptable.
I got a bit tired of its 450+ stitches in the end. Also I tended to dislike it because of my general unwillingness to finish it. Put I’m pressing me a bit to get it done eventually. ::sigh::
But I’m sure I will like it again when it’s finished.

23/IV/2013
The rows are getting longer and longer. I guess I’m having 450ish stitches on the needle. But I can see that I’m not far from completing the short row part and then its only the edging left.
Everything is really bunched up on the 80cm cable… I can’t wait to see it in its full glory.
Thinking ahead, I probably will only block it lightly.

But this is the perfect tv knitting. I made a lot of progress while watching tv, actually.

24/III/2013
I already made 10 repeats of the short rows. It looks great, especially in the sunlight. The picture aren’t really accurate, colour-wise.

06/III/2013
Started the short row section. Well, that brings back some fun - the rows really were long and were about the verge to get boring.
I modified the pattern a bit by using my favourite short row technique and not the one mentioned by the designer.
I read that a lot of people had problems with the border being too tight in this section. I will look out for it, but by now I don’t think I am affected (no pun intended) this. I’m a darn loose knitter, and using three colours loosens up my edges. I hope it will be fine. Otherwise, I’ll keep it. I’m way too lazy to frog it :D

27/II/2013
I’m halfway through the two-stripes-part. I love the grey/green combo. By now it has already become quite large, I think I may need to order circs with a longer cable… Or borrow them or whatever.
As far as I can say, the pattern is easy to follow & well written. Only hint I have is to mark the numbers (stitch counts etc.) for your version. Before starting, I highlighted all the numbers I needed to know. Makes knitting really easier.

28/I/2013
This is so awesome. Knitting this is all I can think of. I abandon my other wips. My sockclub sock will not be finished this month because I’d rather knit this. (okay, I’m having issues with the socks, but that’s another story.)
By now, I knit 5 stripes of CC1 and I love the look. The colours match really good. I’m even considering a 2nd CA…

23/I/2013
Finished the first section yesterday, used up exactly 10 grams of my MC. Then continued to make the first stripes. So far, I’m satisfied.

Silver Sulfide is something that makes silverware look old. It not actually dangerous, but it can damage your skin and other parts that have contact.
I liked to play with the fact that two of the colours are named for elements and the other is called “poison”, hence the name ;) It also made more sense than the name before. Well, a bit.
