Pattern gauge:

12 rows in 10cm

So, I’ll following pattern directions for a size 2, which should make a size 3 top.

Started project and my gauge is now coming out as 7.5cm per repeat!

So I’m going to follow directions (stitch counts) for size 1, which hopefully should still get a size 3.

Yep, that worked perfectly. I cast on (or hooked on) the stitches for a size 1, then followed row instructions as follows:

Row instructions:
Size 3 for body
Size 3 for sleeve
Back to instructions for size 1 for shoulder rows
