Notes

Not my best seaming work, not my favorite task and I’ve been avoiding seamed projects for a little while, but it looks alright. Happy with the sweater overall, it’s cute!

March 7th, 2010 - One sleeve down. I started out making them together, 2 at a time, but screwed up via dropped stitched on the other, so I put it down. I’ve got the ribbing done on the other one at least… I’m glad it ended up possible to make sleeves for this I think it will probably help give it a little more balance since it is a short sweater. Hopefully the 2nd sleeve and the seaming (ack!) will go well!

March 5th, 2010 - Well, it looks like a vest! I think I have enough yarn to to sleeves, maybe. I wasn’t originally planning on them. But first weave in the ends (because they are all over the place!) and add the collar, then we will see. I had to sit down and figure out the shaping on paper before going to it, it involved switching back to straight needles and at one point having a big mess of 4 balls going at once! Luckily Chuck’s very handy at helping me untangle… I should hopefully be done for St. Patrick’s Day, which wasn’t intentional, but now it will be!

Feb/March 2010 - Restarted it because I figures the seams that aren’t seams would bother me forever. And once of needles it was huge so I’m going down a size. Got through the ribbing but then ran into pointless problems. Problem a-not paying attention, read the chart wrong, frog back three rows, then when I went to restart the chart I found I missing some stitches…maybe in the frogging process, I haven’t found them yet…argh. I will, but argh.

1/28/2010 - pulled it out to take some photos and consider if I will frog and restart or finish…It feels like the fit is fine, although I didn’t look at it closely. As I recall, there is some awkwardness at where I joined it for in the round, which I wasn’t happy about, in addition to size issues. (that is, the ribbing isn’t consistent, something like that) I should look closer and decide if I can live with that or not…But I think Chuck was right, I need to see how well if will fit at this size at my chest…I think it’s about right how it is. For future reference at the joined/marker location it repeats the lace portion instead of alternating to the part with the cable. Which…could end up an issue for the armholes…otherwise it’s not bothering me too much yet…but..hmm.

September 16th - marked this as hibernating for the moment. I think it’s too big and I should’ve taken out some stitches to accommodate for the lack of seams. But I asked Chuck (who is not a knitter) and he thought I should keep going until I could see how it does around my chest…which if he hadn’t said I probably woulda frogged and started over by now…so I’m unsure about how I want to proceed.

Early August - Trying in the round.
hm. Ribbing sorta seemed to take forever, and then I think it might be too big around. But. I am not totally sure.
