It’s going to be a sweater. I am just not a shawl gal

30 July: The beginning is kicking my butt. I keep looking at photos and determining that everyone did more rows of garter to start before they turned and picked up along the edge. Since I don’t want to over stretch the back edge (and get that super pooch at row 11), I’m going to frog back and make more to start. I’m glad to read this yarn enjoys being frogged, as it may get to do that more often than usual for me.

16 Sept : After repeated beginnings, I have gotten past the yoke and separated sleeves. The chevron pattern is a four line repeat, that is very soothing to knit. It is going to be a handsome thing, but I do wish that “Luster” was less oatmeal and more icy. It will be lovely nevertheless. Now all I have to do is finish it before my thumbs crap out.

9 November It’s moving along. Yes, the pattern does get easier as you go, but I still need the tiny cheater sheet I made (stuck in a plastic bag with the sleeve length needles) to not mess up.

14 Jan: (cue the loping along music) One sleeve done. 3/4’s length. Fits well (are my arms that huge? Yes). On the home stretch. Possibly done before…next year.

May 2013: Thought I was done. Sleeves too fat. Took them back and redid. The end photo does not include the foul look on my face, but I am glad and I am done. It works as a sweater, although the edging is a little wonky. Only took almost a year…..still have thumbs, still love the yarn, and never could do the four line, 20 stitch repeat without staring at the chart over and over and over and over……
