My mods:

-followed the pattern but used worsted weight yarn with size 8 needles
-the pattern says to knit the whole chart 2.5 times after the sleeve separation ending on row 10 but I did 3 times instead and ended with row 20. Then did 6 rows of garter stitch and bound off.
-for the sleeves (this is important!) knit 4 rounds of stockinette after picking up the sleeve stitches to stay consistent with the pattern. The pattern also doesn’t have you pick up any other stitches - just the ones on a stitch holder leaving a fairly large hole under each arm. I just whip stitched the holes closed but next time I would pick up stitches to prevent the hole and then just decrease to 40 stitches in those first four stockinette rounds.
-for the right sleeve: start the lace chart (rows 1-10) at the 3rd box (meaning skip the 1st 2 stitches in the chart). This will make the lace line up correctly withh the lace on the body of the sweater.
-for the left sleeve: start the lace chart (rows 11-20) with the 4th box.
-made long sleeves instead of short so I ignored the decreases and did…. repeats of the pattern on each sleeve ending with four stockinette rounds and then 6 rows of garter stitch.

Changes I would make next time:

-Make the button holes closer together than what it states in the pattern.
-alter the picking up of the stitches for the sleeves (as mentioned above).

My sweater grew when I blocked it so it is slightly too big for my 4 1/2 year old right now but that just means she’ll get more wear out of it!! :)
