Notes

This is such a clearly written pattern, with helpful stitch counts and straightforward directions. Really great.

I am going to do as much as possible with the Welsh Aran, then use the browns on the sleeves. DIDN’T NEED TO, WOOL WAS LONGER THAN EXPECTED.

Worked an an extra inch where the pattern suggests working extra length.

Spent a while doing the pickup on the collar in order to make sure the raglan knit stitches are also knit stitches in the collar ribbing. Worth the effort. Used a 4mm needle for picking up.

Worked rib on sleeves in broken rib as per body, inspired by Leira’s Ramona.

This is a simple, classic cardigan. If I can avoid spilling anything on it, it will be an autumn staple.

Buttons from the helpful M&C Crafts on Blackstock Road.

Wool has mild sheepiness but perfect for this knit, great meterage, extremely cheap (£12 for 500g), softened well after a soak in Eucalan. Anyone near Newcastle Emlyn (not far from Cardigan) should call in to the Wool Museum to check out the working machinery and of course the shop too.
