I took advantage of the Blacker Yarns Pot luck Bargain Cushion Pack DK special offer, which gave me 12 x 50g balls of wool for only £24. Perfect for cushion making ☺
Living in Newcastle I had to have at least one cushion in the Magpies colours - black and white.
Using a Fibonacci sequence of stripes again, but this time continuing the sequence up the length of the cushion.
I’ve deliberately knitted this so that it would be the correct size with no blocking - not everyone would want to block their cushions.
The weight of the front, with the long ends for sewing up is 73g. Checking on the yarn left in the 2 balls I had 21g of Corridale and 5g of Hebridean.
I’m planning to knit the back out of the remaining Corridale & Hebridean and a 2nd ball of Corridale. That will make a total of 150g of DK and given that the DK from the pack works out at £2 a ball I’m expecting to be able to knit a cushion for £6.
Pattern
Tension 18.5 stitches and 38 rows to 10cm/4inches
I used 4.5mm needles to get this tension and the right ‘feel’ for the knitted fabric.
Colour A (white here) and Colour B (black here)
Cushion Front:
Cast on 75 stitches in colour A and working in stocking stitch throughout, and working in colour B according to the pattern (I break off the ends of the yarn leaving a 2-3 inch tail and ‘weaving’ the ends in with the first few stitches as I knit)

B - 1 row

Join the 2 sides of the back and front together using mattress stitch. Stitch one of the top/bottom edges using a stitch that can be reproduced when the final edge of the cushion is stitched together after stuffing.
