Wedding date 5/27/2018

612 stitches cast on, and after about an inch, I realized there was a full twist in the join. I just untwisted and knit on. I am reminded of what are the really important things to get upset about, and what are the little things that can be made to work. It’ll work.

Maths. So much maths.
So I got my undergarments on and tried the dress on over the petticoats. This resulted in ripping back 5 inches at the hip. It was way too big. I then did the Dec round early, at 1 inch above the end of lace. Then went down a needle size (from 7 to 6) after total 12 rounds from end of lace. Then 12 rounds size 6. Change to size 5 needle for 6 rounds Dec another 10 stitches and p straight for the next 4 inches.
Each 6 rounds or so is an inch.
Plan so far.
then I will likely increase back to regular stitch count for bust.

ookay.
I am learning lots. One big thing is that going down in needle size does not necessarily lead to a smaller size dress, for my particular knitting style. My gauge is different than the pattern, and I am a loose knitter. Much math.
I was up to just under the bust, and tried it on…8 inches too big. ugh. Third time is a charm, I sure hope.
So, ripped back 7 inches, and am using decreases to shape the dress. I am decreasing 2 stitches at the back of the dress (at points that divide the back into thirds) every other row. Will decrease 40 stitches like that, from 186 to 146, knit straight for 1 inch, then determine how to increase for the bust.
The wedding is in 32 days. I am a little stressed planning and paying for all the details. Although knitting is calming, I feel I may soon lose my calm.

The dress was dyed in June 2019, so it can be worn for other occasions.
The marriage ended 2020, but there’s still a good ending to the story. Happiness, peace, and a kick ass dress!
