28 July 2012: Cast on during the opening ceremonies and knitted much of the first section during the parade of nations. I’m a little skeptic about the shaping as it’s doing a crescent thing right now, whereas the photos on the pattern has a straight-ish line at the top. Could be a blocking fix. We’ll see.

31 Jul 2012: Oh I see now what it’s all about! Once I sat down to knit exclusively on this I finished the first section quite quickly. Each 4-row repeat increases your stitch count by 10 so it does not take long to get to the 147 required before Section 2.

1 Aug 2012: I had to frog back to the end of section 1 because the selvedge was too tight. I suspect this is why some FOs have that funny curve on the top edge. I replaced the lifted increase with YO and ktbl on the next row. Much looser!

3 Aug 2012: Started the short rows. Having a tough time alternating the skeins on one edge.

4 Aug 2012: Managed 9 stripes of all three colours. Rows are getting longer now bit still quite a relaxing knit. Perfect for watching the Games on TV!

6 Aug 2012: Thirteen stripes done…not long to go now.

9 Aug 2012: The end is near! I started the border today … such long rows … and hope to finish it tonight. Then I can move on to the other Rav Games projects.

11 Aug 2012, 12.27am: Done!

18 Aug 2012: What I found strange in most of the 5300 projects on Ravelry is how very few shows the puckering edge where the three colours are used (see 4th photo from top on mine). It can’t just be me who has that pucker which causes that point to curl on itself? Right?
