Notes

Okay final decision made! Changed yarn at the last minute. Awesome MCN! Feels like satin and butter at the same time on my fingers.

20 Jun 2012: Cast on as per pattern. Did 13 rows of cuff before starting Chart A. Going fairly well so far.

23 Jun 2012: It looks and feels rather tight, but blocking might help. I’m not very good with adjusting patterns to fit esp as the leg for these socks as written is way too long and has no shaping to accommodate the increase in calf sizes. Thankfully, I found lkristy’s Elm which she modified to allow for shorter legs.

I have 13 rows of ribbing for the cuff followed by Charts A, B and C. I then adjusted the stitches for the heel flap (27 sts) and instep (33 sts), 20 rows heel flap. I finished the gusset decreases with 33 sts on the sole. I need a wider foot so I am changing the stitch count to 66 for the rest of the sock.

The instep then went on to Chart D. I had to adjust it so that my instep statrs with a p3 and ends with a p3. Not very difficult to do once you got to that point. I am making notes here and on my copy of the pattern so that sock #2 will (hopefully!) match.

23 Jul 2012: Had the ribbing done already but picked it up again and worked through Chart A quite easily while catching up with Amiras.

15 Aug 2012: Turned the heel on second sock and now working Chart D down the foot.

21 Aug 2012: Did most of the knitting during the 4-day long Eid weekend. Finished the toe shaping this morning but could not graft as I was going to be late for work. Otherwise this is done!

Thank goodness for notes as I was all focus and concentration as I worked out what I did for the foot on the first sock. There were witnesses to my furrowed brows and furious tinking and re-knitting.

Totally loved this pattern though, despite my grumblings. People thought it was complicated cables and all but it’s a cleverly disguised piece of design. My first Cookie A socks ever! Yay!

13 Sept 2012: Last photo shows my swap package received from my partner, Chonnybunny.
