Gauge: 3.5” x 3.75” unblocked; 3.75” x 3.9” blocked (perfect to get a 37.5”/38” bust that I want.)
05.08.12--Two knots in 1st skein. Not happy. Pattern, however--very happy! Such neat construction! Definitely worth every penny I paid for the pattern, and in retrospect, I wouldn’t have minded paying more!
05.09.12--Finished yoke. I used 1 skein of yarn for center braid beginning, swatch, and alternated it with another skein for the rest of the yoke. Finished with just about 1 foot left. Woot!
Agreed with jettshin about the bust being abnormally large according to my calculations. Only cast on 8 underarm sts per sleeve instead of the 14 sts called for. This should give me exactly 145 sts across the bust, a.k.a. “40 inches.” Thus, my bust will really be 37.5”, but if I have about an inch of front band, I should have perfect ease in the sweater.
05.10.12--Knit 2 extra rows before starting increases.
05.11.12--5 rows beyond 8th increase completed (15.5” long). This may end up being too long for my liking, but we’ll see. I do like a good bum covering.
Because I CO fewer sts originally, I ended up with 3 fewer sts for each front and 6 sts less for the back.
Other mods:
-CO only 8 additional sts for sleeves, too. I didn’t want the sleeves to be too roomy at the armpit area. Didn’t decrease for the sleeves until I had knit 39 rounds and then did 2 rounds of decreases to continue following the pattern.
-Shortened the sleeves quite a bit to fit me. I didn’t account enough for how this yarn grows after washing, though. I probably should have made it shorter.
-Knit 9 row garter edge for the front band because I like symmetry.
-Placed button loops on the top of the sweater.
-Used 6 buttons instead of the 4 called for. I didn’t want additional gaping.
