TL;DR

Yarn did NOT bleed - yay! Piped edges by sewing a hem of the Reverse SS border. 5 sections wide.

My cast off was too tight and that also is part of why I chose to pipe. Use a more flexible cast off than standard PSSO.

After making this I recommend the short one loop over a double. Double is pretty but more challenging to wear.

Have no clue why this knit up more like a fingering than DK for me.

Project Start

Knitting English /Lever means YO followed by a Pass 3 W yarn Front = YO (yarn to front , wrap over to back) Yarn Front ( YO again stopping Halfway so yarn is at front to purl ) slip three as if to purl. Bring yarn to back. Knit.

This is no DK!! Size 9 to get 21 stitches to 4 inches, really? How the. What the. Added 14 stitches, rounded to nearest number divisible by four and used 292 so it would be long enough following the fingering directions.

I dunno why my tension is wiggy on EVERY project. I tried to start a sweater three times before starting a slightly less gauge dependent project.

Taking 1 star off pattern for including broken web links to how to cable cast on and ‘quilt’ stitch. Also not sure I would call this quilt. It’s a quilted lattice variant moving the slip3 so no diamonds with some slip color work added.

Had to drop down 8 lines , 6 times. I found a small chunk where I picked up the YO into the wrong area. Vince it was a day’s knitting, I did surgery rather than frog. Now it’s all fine an no one will ever be able to tell.

Making good progress. Hoping for enough yarn to make a one loop cowl? We will see.

On last repeat on blue section then border. Doing blue/white/blue/white/blue. So 5 sections total w white borders.

Weighed left over yarn, changed totals, need to soak and block.

Concerned about bleeding - cause of course I didn’t swatch and wash.

Going to soak just the once with a few color catching sheets and a white t shirt scrap in the water to hopefully catch bleed off and keep white yarn more white.

04-03-2016

Holy heck. No bleeding?? I am more than shocked.

04-04-2016

Still drying. Awaiting results with bated breath.

04-05-2016

Blocking did its job too well. Wanted some purl curl on the edge. Will consider options.

04-07-2016

Hemming edge. Rolling purl and sewing underneath to make a piped effect.
