Notes

September 11, 2017

See projects notes from Selbu 1, Selbu 2, and Selbu 3.

In general, if your long form changing color way has inconsistent length you may wish to cut out chunks of yarn to keep the color changes consistent. You may wish to do this in crown regardless as you use less yarn with less stitches per row.

I usually use my Chiagoo Red Lace tips, and either go to Magic Loop at end, or switch to DPNS.

My 2nd was too loose -- over compensated with keeping floats loose. I’m not THAT tight a knitter! So 3rd was fine on tension without any extra fussing.

I knit with rainbow dominant, using both hands to hold yarn, knitting continental for left and lever on the right.

Couldn’t get my cast on nailed down -- almost feels like tonsoltis and it’s hella distracting.

September 13, 2017

Made progress in the cast on and into the ribbing. I think…maybe.. I have too many fingering weight black. Sock yarn, not Palette.

September 14, 2017

Ugh. I hate 1x1 ribbing in black fingering. It would be better to NOT watch TV. When will I learn? I finally got it fixed and got the first line of color work started.

Pro Tip: I’ve made 3 of these, and that first line of colorwork I ALWAYS end up backing out and redoing parts. Check your work Every. Darn. Repeat. Really. No. REALLY.

A stitch in time saves nine and all that.

September 17, 2017

I’m always surprised how smooth colorwork feels at this point in my life once I have a foundation row to error check the current row against.

On row 8, feels nice and easy.

Round 16. Too much video games…

October 8, 2017

Wandering back around to this. Row 31.

October 11, 2017

Near end of crown. Just a few more charted rows before switching to written instructions.

October 12, 2017

Finished, washed, nudged into a ‘block’ as I STILL don’t own a round plate the right size for tams. Photos tomorrow and wrap it up.
