Took a quilt pattern and converted to a knitted pattern.
Double Strand Garter stitch squares abt 6” sq: 10 solid green (G); 8 tri-colored (T)
Random stripe garter stitch seam (4” wide) why in the world did I do a seam that wide! Must have wanted to practice saddle shoulders
The six-inch square’s construction is based on the garter stitch baby blanket diagram at top of page 53 of Elizabeth Zimmerman’s The Opinionated Knitter. Color changes at corner turns mimic the colored triangles that combine to make the tricolored quilt blocks.

Apr 2012: Not liking the random stripe garter stitch seam. Will rip out and replace with applied I-cord seams and closure.
8/24/12: ripped out the striped garter st saddle seams and started applied I-cord seams with green only.
9/5: almost finished this tonight. Have about six inches of I-cord border to go and then I need to make about two feet of i-cord cord and I’m done.
9/12: finished knitting the I-cord lacing cord (which ended up a little more than sixty inches in length, not 2 ft) for closure. All done but the pics which I will do tomorrow in daylight.
