Notes

This was an easy, fun hat to make. After swatching and getting 12 stitches over 4 inches (instead of 14), I added 12 stitches to the cast on because I figured my head was bigger than the 60 stitches would allow. My hat fits fine, but if I did it again, I’d probably stick with 60 stitches. The yarn is very stretchy and I think a smaller hat would stretch over my head just fine.

I added the stripes to the pattern, just to jazz it up a little. After knitting above where the brim would fold to, I did the stripes as 3 rows of blue, 2 rows of red, 2 rows of blue, 1, row of red, 1 row of blue, the rest red.

I knitted this over the course of a couple of days while on a week-long fishing trip at Cape Lookout, NC. We caught fish every day.
