This cotton, Fern from Shibui Knits, is so soft, it feels like I’m wearing a light and airy cloak of velvet. The knitting up too feels velvety and flannel-ish. The yarn is lightly brushed and is a very nice knitting experience and not at all stringy like some unfortunate cottons can be. I highly recommend this yarn, and it comes in a gorgeous color palette. This is a great addition to the knitters who love+love+love knitting with summer cotton and crave the best!

The pattern, Mirage by Shellie Anderson was a good one. I only made a change in the sleeves: instead of knitting them separately and sewing them in, I picked up stitches around the arm scythe and knit them top down with short rows. For tapering my long sleeves I made decreases every two inches to the wrist. I also finished the neck by picking up stitches and doing an i-cord bind off.

I am a bit unsure if the A-line shape and flared bottom hem suits me. This is knit in pieces, bottom up. The shaping decreases begin soon after the knitting begins to create the a-line flair. I just don’t usually wear that shape and I think it will take me a little while to get used to it.
