Notes

The Unst lace, a type of Shetland lace is fun and easy. The pattern is well written and easy to follow. Little touches are the i cord bind off neck and the twisted rib. There is no seaming, the shoulder seam uses a 3 needle bind off, but there are a lot of stitches to pick up when finishing. Don’t worry, the extra work makes a beautiful finish.

Both the button bands are picked up, as is the neck and the sleeves. Picking up stitches for the sleeves was a new one on me. You pick up stitches all around the arm scythe, then start at the top and knit short rows until you get the the bottom of the scythe, then knit in the round to cuff. I did have 10” and 16” circulars that I used for this to avoid knitting with double point needles. Usually I would knit them flat and seam, but I gave the smaller circulars a try and I did like it. I did not use the magic loop method, just knit in the round. I did pick up my wraps.
