I love how Romi blends the 4 P&L patterns into this one stole.
I cast on over a spare cable with end caps on. It was awkward for the first few rows, but I didn’t have to pick up stitches for the second end. I started with a slip knot over the spare cable, and when it was time to pick up for the short end, I dropped the slip knot, and russian joined my yarn to that end. No ends to bury, and the right number of stitches to start with!
The many repeats of chart B were kicking my butt. I stopped doing chart B after 35 repeats even though I have enough yarn to do more.
Chart C while making the stockinette stitch sections match on the 2 ends, creates some asymmetry. If I had really needed it to be symmetrical, I think I might have knit Charts A through F from the provisional CO in both directions. That would give you a row of diamonds up the middle, and both ends would match.
In the written Chart C rows 3 and 7, Chart D rows 27, 47, and 65 and Chart E row 23, Leave your markers were they are. The repeats will go back to 8 on the next pattern row. These rows only change because of the decreases on them.
My Chart E is slightly different because of changes during testing. I decided to match my 2 ends, so I will make the same “mistake” on the second end.
I went bead-less because I was being indecisive, and couldn’t make up my mind.
Yarn usage:
started with about 247? g
A used 4 g
B used 3 g
5B used 11 g
15B used 34 g
25B used 56 g
30B used 67 g
35B used 77 g
C used 4 g
The continuing end (D - F and the BO) used 64 g
The pick up end (D - F and the BO) used 62 g
I tried to weigh the stole, and leftover yarn at the end, and my scale gave me a number less than what I had left after Chart A. The only explanations I can come up with for that are humidity, or a flaky scale.
As I worked on this stole, I kept having ideas about other ways to use this mashup pattern.
