Notes

Using my handspun yarn (coloured Wensleydale twisted with undyed BFL).
I looked for a project for especially this yarn as I love the colours, but they would have been lost within a project with long rows. So within this project with such short rows each coulour can be seen well.

For keeping the colorway of the yarn at the upper border, too, I did a little change at the pattern. The pattern tells to pick up and knit stitches along the whole upper border and then knit 5 rows garter stitch. So this would be a horizontally knitted border with rows of full length of the shawl.
I added a vertically garter stitch border, rows of 5 stitches, always knitting the last stitch together with the holded stitch of the half-element or one picked-up-stitch. I’m sorry I can’t hardly explain it, and I didn’t take a picture of it. So if you wan’t to know about it, just ask me, I’ll love to tell you!

Project-Diary:
7th January 2013:
Project start

Start des Projektes

8th January:
Completed 7 elements with 66 grams yarn -> so each element takes about 9,5 grams. So the planning is:
21 full elements (6 rows) makes about 200 grams -> 46 grams rest for 7 half-elements and the top border. Hope this will succeed, as this yarn is all I have.
#

11th January:
Just knitting the 16th full-element. Already finished nearly all border full-elements (one still missing). I LOVE this shawl!
#

13th January (4 o’clock morning/4 Uhr morgens):
Knitting hole 12th Jan long at the shawl, hoping to finish it THIS weekend, knitting until right now - just for detecting that the yarn will NEVER EVER suffice… I’m devasted…
Just asked Ester for help (new dyed fibre), hoping SO much she can rescue me…
#

Ester will rescue me!!!! YEAH! Hopefully next weekend I can spin my new yarn and then finish the shawl soon - and even have enough yarn to knit all element-rows of the pattern!
#
Ester wird mich retten!!!! JUHUUU!!!

18th January:
Got the new dyed fibres from Ester! Began to spin the yarn right in the evening.
#

19th January:
Finished spinning the new yarn, now waiting impatiently for it to get dry.
#

22th January:
Just knitting the 25th full element (of 28 full elements and 8 half elements).
#

26th January:
Ready with all elements, thinking now about the upper border.
#

28th January:
Finished the upper border this evening, now just need to weave the ends in and then block it.
#

31th January:
Finished the weaving in of the ends, just blocking it. Fotos will follow.
#

2nd February 2013:
Took some pictures, weared it the first time.
#

I love this shawl!!!!
