This is an extremely simple project to keep my hands busy while I’m reading. It’s just a garter-stitch rectangle sewed up into a sort of vest.

I skipped the crocheted shell border because I don’t crochet. The ties are made with 1.5” wide silk satin ribbons, each about 12” long.

A border along the front might have helped because it had to be pulled fairly tight to meet, and I had to pin it behind the ties. I don’t think I would have wanted to make it any wider, though, because I had to fold over the edge at the neck as a sort of shawl collar to make it lay reasonably. The pattern drawing did not show doing anything like that.
