Started making the I-cord for the hat with the embellish-knit before even having a measurement of the baby’s head!

Got the measurement. I used Shell Stitch Beanie for the base; since the child is in Florida, I wanted something open for maximum breathability. I am using a thinner yarn than called for in the pattern, so I worked with a smaller hook than called for and ended up having to do 2 extra repeats of the shells to get to the length Woolly Wormhead says it needs to be for the age of the child (see website here). Now, I need to get a balloon. Most of the brain beanie patterns I’ve looked at have you put the hat blown up to the appropriate size to stitch the icord on, which is brilliant, but means I need to buy balloons!!
