I shouldn’t knit regarding my mangled shoulder - cast on anyway.
The yarn seems sturdy (due to the silk content) but very soft.
Gauge is fine (hopefully it will not grow to much - I didn’t wash the swatch - this is dangerous, I know).
I am going to knit the pattern in the round, bottom up.
Have been omitting two stitches, so the pattern will match up. It does.
Pattern: the biggest twists in the pattern are not divided up correctly - on the right front they point in one direction, on the back and left front they go in the other direction. I chose the middle of the back to divide up the twist directions. Seems to work out fine so far.
Yarn is nice to work with. The less I should knit the more I want to… I’ll regret this….
June 15: It has had a bath and is being blocked - still wet. Still in need of buttons.
Oh well, I did one of the usual not so smart things with it that I’m sometimes inclined to pursue regardless of the outcome:
The armholes and upper arms seemed a bit tight to me while knitting. So I lengthened the armholes as well as the upper sleeve parts.
Resulting in a still too skinny arm fit, sleeves now too long of course, and the upper part of the body pieces pulling outwards towards the sleeves. Otherwise fine.
I didn’t want to unravel the collar and buttonbands, as well as the sleeves so I decided to take the sleeves out only and knit them again top down.
This wasn’t easy as I still can’t use my right arm.
Sleeves taken out it has to wait until I am able to go on - I do want this cardigan, it is nice….
End of July: reviewing my armholes and thinking of a good way to knit the sleeves top down.
Beginning of August: cannot knit on with the yarn, it is hurting my shoulder surgery - I am so curious how these sleeves will turn out, the shoulder caps are done (a little too puffy, but it will be as all right as it ever will be…)
August 24: working on the second sleeve, almost down to the elbow.
Bonus afterthought sleeves / armwarmers: after taking the first sleeves out, I didn’t rip them. I kept them and knit some 1/1 ribbing on to them to use as very long arm warmers / sleeves.
I’ll love them in the winter and at chilly times. They reach up to the middle of my upper arm and the ribbing should keep them firmly in place. Should…
