The pattern starts off oddly, to my mind, with a sleeve that is exactly the same size for all pattern sizes (age 1-8). Should be okay for my 2 & 6 year olds, but we’ll see.

Sleeves finished and they look great and are right on gauge (of course you may notice a slight error in the fairisle band, oh well!)…but I’ve knit the hem and and about two inches of the body and it’s two inches too wide. Grr. I hate that. I did a ten stitch increase just an inch and a half or so ago so I’m thinking I’m just going to do a ten stitch decrease…I think I’m remembering why I got tired of knitting sweaters: gauge matters.
Well, it is beautiful…currently drying and will be photo’ed while being modeled tomorrow I hope. A little on the big side…but that means he’ll be able to wear it again next year.
I can’t believe that any 5/8” button will stay in this size i-cord loop. I reduced the buttonhole size while knitting them and they are still too big. I’ve gone through and tightened them all up with a darning needle and I’m going to have to do that again or switch to larger buttons. I’ll make the buttonholes much smaller for the next one.
Gus claims he loves it! Now to knit the smaller one for my younger son.
