First, while the pattern is only 5 by 6 squares I need a big afghan so I’m doubling (yes doubling) that to 10 by 12 squares.

2nd, the pattern calls for 5 of each type of square. Then you use a picture to figure out where to place the squares. The picture though, shows 6 of A,C, & E squares and 4 of B, D, & F squares. I couldn’t figure out what was going on with that. So between the larger size and the mismatch of squares I decided to create my own layout. It’s actually very simple.

Start from the top left corner and going from left to right put the squares down in alphabetical order until I reach the tenth square then I move down a row. This creates an even amount of each square.
