I’ve had my eye on this pattern for a while. Time to make a cloche!
I’m using some reclaimed yarn (from a $1 thrift-store sweater). 100% cotton-- but some of the softest, spongiest cotton it has ever been my privilege to touch. ;o) (Unfortunately, it is also weaker than some of the other cotton I’ve used, so I need to remember not to pull too hard on it when I tighten the magic loop… Not much tightening required in this project, though.)
This yarn is even thinner than the notoriously thin “worsted” Caron Simply Soft, so I may have to play around with hook sizes to start with…
Later--
I’m holding the yarn double, using an E hook, and aiming for a fairly dense fabric.
Dec. 27th--
Hm. Wasn’t happy with how it was turning out. Unraveled part of the way, but it was taking a while, since I had to rewind two balls (as I was holding yarn doubled)… Got bored and decided to let the flat(ish) circle stay in existence as a hot pad / pot holder.
I’ll try again, eventually. Not sure if I want to try a different yarn this time or just go for a looser gauge… I hate working tight sc, though, so definitely no more dense fabric.
January 21st--
Hm. I may try this pattern again, eventually.
For now, I’m just not that interested, so I’ll just mark this as frogged (which is the closest to being accurate).
In the meantime, a girl can only wear one hat at a time, and there are other patterns I’m more interested in trying, at the moment.
