I’m expanding my 12-block “Crochet Favorites Sampler (part 2)” by at least three more blocks of my own choosing. This is block number 14.

Double trebles are a fun change of pace-- and they do make a motif grow quickly-- but on the other hand, they make you appreciate the “boring” double crochet. (g)

Since I needed a 12 inch square, it was obvious going in that I’d have to add some rounds to bring this up to size. (Working the pattern with no additions, I ended up with a 6.5 inch square.)

Additional rounds:
-- 2 rounds of sc in back loop only
-- pairs of dc separated by (ch 1, skip next st)
-- 3 rounds of sc in back loop only
-- (mostly) alternating hdc and ch 1 (with some consecutive hdc in the middle of each side to get the numbers right)
-- 1 round sc in every stitch
