adjusting the pattern for 4ply sock yarn so the base number is 64, not 48.
The instructions say to use the invisible cast-on and refer to the appendix. I checked the appendix - a nice little blurb on how useful the invisible cast-on is and which famous knitters have used it, but nothing on the actual technique. So I used my standard provisional cast-on using the bumps in a crochet chain of contrasting waste yarn. Worked fine.
