Notes

20-10-2015

Washing my swatch. Unblocked I’m getting 19 sts & 24 rows per 4” with the Cascade 220 on 4 mm needles.

Planned stripe sequence: red, yellow, navy, green

21-10-2015

Post-blocking swatch measures 19 sts and 26 rows to 4” - a little looser than the pattern gauge …

27-10-2015

Cast-on my sweater. Based on my gauge I’m using stitch counts for the size 34 but lengths for the size 36. Hopefully I will end up with a sweater about the same as the size 36.

15-11-2015

Weighted all my yarns last night and did some math to figure out how many stripes I’ll be able to get out of each ball. Turns out to be way less than I expected. I think I’ll need to edit my plan a bit.

16-11-2015

Found a skein of black Cascade 220 in my stash and rearranged my stripe order to work with it. I think I’m back in business.

… just as soon as I accept that I’m not going to get three stripes of red and frog out that last one …

27-11-2015

Started a sleeve to see how much yarn a sleeve stripe was going to take and I don’t know what happened but my math was completely off. Why did I think it would take me 22g of yarn to knit twenty 60 stitch rounds? So I have enough yarn but like my new colour combination so much I’m going to keep it (along with the third stripe of red).

23-12-2015

Finished the body and started the collar. I’m not sure I’ll have enough of my grey so I’m working the collar before the sleeves. I figure a dye lot mismatch will hide more easily when it’s broken up by the stripes.

28-12-2015

Finished the first sleeve yesterday and tried it on. It looks good but I decided I wanted the sleeve just a little bit longer so ripped back and added four rows before starting the cuff again. This means I won’t have enough yarn to finish my second sleeve but a new skein of the same dye lot is on it’s way to me. I won’t have a new sweater for the New Year but pretty soon after.

09-01-2016

Ran out of yarn two rounds + the bind off from the end of the second sleeve. I’ll wind up my emergency skein this afternoon and finish my sweater.
