26-05-2016

Ordered a third skein and finally feel confident I’ll have enough yarn to make a proper swatch. Maisie is excited about a new sweater and helped me wind the yarn.

28-05-2016

Swatch finished. Need to block it.

02-06-2016

Swatch washed and dried. Gauge is spot on! Time to start the sweater.

Started knitting.

Finished the yoke charts.

Cast-off the body and had Maisie try it on for me to check the length before I cut the tail. Looks good.

Button loops/edging done. Just the sleeves to go.

Sleeve #1 done and approved (I wasn’t sure what she’d think of the three-quarter length) and the buttons sewn on. Working on sleeve #2.

Additional Notes on Size

Since Maisie tends towards the string bean style of body shape (and I want this sweater to fit for quite a while) I worked the 24½“ size for all stitch counts (giving her 4” of ease, 2 more than the pattern calls for) and the 29” size for body and sleeve lengths. It would have been a good idea to also knit the yoke a bit deeper but I didn’t think of it until I was well past the sleeve divide.
