Notes

I have struggled with a lot of the directions in this pattern.

Back body? MOSTLY Easy-peasy. Side pieces? Forget about it!
1. cable two over two? Seriously - they can add a note for how to do garter stitch but can’t take the time to explain that each two stitches within the cable needed to be K2tog? sigh

  1. I couldn’t follow directions (not sure it’s entirely my fault though - the directions are something else). But I had started the right side and put the garter stitch section on the wrong side of the chart pattern. SIGH. Worked through the a couple of repeats of the short rows before I figured out why they had us stopping where they did - pain.

  2. After frogging and recasting on. Decided to replace the two cables facing opposite directions with a larger cable that is reversible surrounded by four stitches of seed stitch. Both sides look better and easier for doing everything.

  3. Then I messed up on the right side and couldn’t figure out what increasing on the ‘short’ side meant the side that is shorter in length instead of width (sigh). So my increases take place in the borders which I would have preferred the other way… but will live with it as-is.

  4. Then I had tons of frogging and reknitting and/or dropping down for inconsistent counts on cable crossings.

  5. Then I finished the right side; got to almost finished on the left side… when I realized that I had missed the column increases on the right side. Let’s see - in the middle of adding garter stitch to the pattern that isn’t in the chart, and while doing cable crosses, and while doing short rows; there’s a need to keep count of rows for the 3 row st/ 3 row rev st sections AS WELL as keeping track on increases? Yeah… I missed one of the six things I had to do.

That’s about the time I set it aside because I was irritated. Plan is to finish the left side, frog the collar section on the right side and re-do.

But it’s going into hibernation so my wrist can heal after an injury.

12/11/2013 - Pulled this out of the project bag. And it’s not as far as I thought it was. Still need to finish the left side (and see if I can remember what I had figured out before)… then frog and reknit the top section of the right side…. then I’ve got two sleeves and seaming.

Sigh. I really love the look of the finished sweater though… so it’s worth working on this.
