Finished my Wee Wool Vest and decided I liked the pattern so much I wanted to make another one! This one is made with a 75% pima cotton/25% merino wool blend, so it’ll work for a warmer weather baby. (I want to send this to PRR, and it’s warm in the daytime there but I’m told it still gets kind of shivery at night, so I think I cotton/wool blend would be good.) This yarn is heavier than the Fisherman’s Wool I used for the first one, and I went up a needle size so it’s bigger.
I hope to make several of these in different colors and sizes. With warmer weather on the way, it seems to me that vests would be nice for the babies on days when a sweater might be too much, but they still need something.
I have the first dozen rows done at 4:40 pm.
9:44pm About to start row #32. I don’t know if it’s because this is the second time I made this or what, but it is going extra fast this time. :)
3-20-2013 I copied, pasted and printed the pattern today so I was able to work on it while I waited for Jerek at his physical therapy appontment. I am all done with the knitting except for the last strap, which is like 6 or 10 rows of 7 stitches. I also have some of the ends woven in already. :) Not sure what buttons to use, I think understated ones would be best. I don’t think bright ones would look right on this.
3-21-2013 Used all of one skein and about 3/4 of the second. Turned out really well, larger than the first one I made. I didn’t have enough of the gray buttons I wanted to use, but I found some blackish one that looked pretty good too. All in all I’m happy with it, and am now off to start the third one.
