I was inspired by a scarf that Saki wove with her handspun on a pegged frame loom in the Weaving With Hand Spun forum. I decided to try something similar on my new Spriggs Adjustable Rectangular Loom. That loom is constructed to weave diagonally with a continuous strand.

Instead, I tied on individual warps lengthwise. I used some early handspun from my own flock; this was the first fiber that I had ever dyed. Also included some quadrupled mill-spun laceweight lambswool from my flock in the warp. Then I used two strands of the lambswool as a continuous weft strand, thus resulting in four stands in each shed. Lots of space between warp and weft fibers while on the loom!

To finish, I crocheted the weft loops potholder-style while still on the loom. Evened up the spacing, removed the piece, and tied the fringe. It had a vigorous handwashing in very warm water with olive oil soap, being careful to full but not felt the wool. I wanted the fibers to intermingle some to stabilize the weave structure, but I also wanted to maintain a little space between fibers. I rinsed in cold water and put in a hot dryer for a couple of minutes, then hung it on a porch railing to finish drying.
