Notes

I made these for my steampunk cosplay.

I used wool sock yarn I had in my stash - a variegated brown and a cream color. You’ll need less than a standard ball of sock yarn. I made some changes to this pattern in the knit “lace” portion as below. I used US 7 double pointed needles and crochet hook size e.

I used the brown for the knit cuff and fancy crochet part (hook size E).

The changes I made were picking up 56 stitches in cream for the under“lace” area (originally in pink). The pattern gives a lacy rib look.
Next round: increase every other stitch for 84 sts.
Next round: Knit
Pattern (in four rounds):

  1. (K4, yo, K2 tog) around
  2. Knit
  3. K1 (yo, K2 tog, k4) around; k3
  4. Knit Repeat pattern for 20 rows (5 sets) or until length desired. Picture shows 5 sets. Purl one row Cast off in knit

In brown with crochet hook (e), attach yarn to a stitch.
(ch 3, sk 1 st, sc in next st). Repeat around. Fasten off.
