Notes

Finishing I choose the stretchy Sewn bind off (a favorite of Elizabeth Zimmermann) for the neck and a deliberately tight bind off purl-wise for the cuffs using the magic loop method for both neck and cuffs.
To get rid of the stains: So far I tried Ivory Soap, Oxiclean and Shout and the two stains changed color from a silvery gray to a reddish brown :( May try RIT next..
It is not so noticeable any more… so I will just let it be.

September 2012 I have been working on this on and off. The pieces are done now and I am wet- blocking them (one on top of the other) rather than steam pressing.
I had quite a shock to see that two of the T-pins left stains on the garment (see picture)!

ERRATA For the written instructions of the yoke and welt row 7 should read as follows with repeats between {}:
k1(2), {k1, yfwd,ssk,k1,k2tog,yfwd, k2}, k1,yfwd,ssk,k1,yfwd,k2(3)
The charted instructions are correct with the k2(3) in the end.

This project has been in my queue for a long time; more or less since I saw this pattern in the April 2011 issue of the “let’s Knit” magazine. I am glad I finally started and am looking forward to be wearing the sweater.

The yarn
A quick note on Jimmy Beans Wool. I wanted to make sure that the color was a natural/ off-white and when I called they were very helpful and sent a bit of sample yarn in the mail; how is that for customer service?!
The knitting looks a little uneven because it is light weight yarn on needles larger than called for for the yarn, but that gives it the light and ethereal feel.
The yarn feels nice to the touch and I have fun working with it.
