Notes

April after knitting several shawls in between I picked up this project again. Since I only had to finish the sleeves it didn’t take me too long to finsh.
These are the modifications I made:

  • I continued increases every 11th row on the sleeves until I had 38 stitches left. I added 7 rows to the length of the sleeves in stockinette knitting row 4-10 of the cable pattern E. Then I purled 1 row (turn of the cuff) and knitted 6 rows on size 4 needles. I loosely hemmed the cuff on the inside.
  • On the body I only knitted 12 rows of garter stitch (instead of 14) ending with a purl row. Then I knitted 6 rows on size 4 needles, bound off loosely and hemmed to the inside.
  • I altered the neck almost like westknits: link text except that I knitted in stockinette and added a small cable on the right. I repeated the two rows as described by westknits until I had 8 stitches left. After picking up stitches from the front and back for a total of 68 stitches I knitted two rows in the round, then purled one row (the turning edge), then knitted 6 rows on size 4 needles, bound off loosely with size 8 needles and hemmed the collar to the inside for a snug round neckline imitating my cuff construction. I finished this during a cold Spring day and was looking for warmth otherwise I am not opposed to the wide collar, but I had been feeling particular cold.

February For a less dramatic waist shaping I only did four decreases followed by four increases every 11th row.

January The yarn was an impulse buy when I was at WEBS. I loved the color, the feel and the price and was told by a very helpful staff person that 10 skeins should be enough for a sweater. Imagine my delight when I found this pattern on ravelry. I think it will be perfect, but will have to give some thought to the modifications other ravellers have made; for now I am just following the pattern.
