• June 16 The shawl was picked up today and was very happily received; to quote: “ This is so light, so beautiful; I have never owned something this exquisite”. Such response made all the work worthwhile.

• June 5, 2013 Finished blocking and took final pictures (a lot of pictures). Wouldn’t mind keeping this; it’s absolutely gorgeous! Excellent pattern for this exquisite yarn!
  My Blue Haze appears both on the facebook page of Artyarn as a project suggestion and one of the pictures is featured on the pattern page.

• June 3, 2013 Finally did the grafting. I waited for the weather to cool down a bit before attempting it and still got it wrong on my first two attempts. I have a lot of practice now to undo the Kitchener Stitch. On my first attempt I did the Kitchener Stitch for Garter Stitch but didn’t see that I was supposed to stop when I had one stitch left on the needle, then do the Transitional Kitchener Stitch and then the Kitchener Stitch. After about 20 stitches I noticed that the lace pattern was not lining up correctly. The second time I started the Transitional Kitchener Stitch when I truly had just one stitch left from the garter stitch section (what was I thinking?!) and of course the lace pattern did not line up correctly again :( Yes, you are right: I had to start the Transitional Kitchener Stitch when I had one stitch of the garter stitch section left on EACH needle. The final time it came out beautifully! Worth the effort to get it right.

• May 2013 I added an additional (spells out “even more nupps”) repeat on each half before grafting. By now I don’t mind the nupps so much and I had a lot of yarn left. When I knitted the last row I felt almost sad, like saying good by to a trusted friend.

• January 2013 Definitely not a mindless knitting project while watching TV. Between the very fine yarn and the intricate lace pattern one has to keep close attention. Not that it is really difficult although the pattern says “advanced”, but very tedious.

After knitting the Annis Shawl I thought I would never knit nupps again but this pattern suggests a nice alternate method of knitting nupps loose enough so the purl 7 together is easier to do: You do double YO’s on the right side. Still, you do end up with a total of 405 of them (27 in each of 15 repeats), but then again that’s what makes the shawl look so spectacular; the contrast of open lace and tight nupps.
