Notes

My nephew Sascha and his wife are expecting their first baby in August and since I made a blanket for his brother’s baby girl last year I do have to make one for this baby, too :)
I am quite happy to do it except that I was very worried about the colors they requested: red and white. I was reluctant to put a lot of work into it only to find that the red will bleed at the first wash. But I did a test with this super-wash Cascade yarn and find that it should be OK.

I had started to use the pattern by MadelineTosh “Easy Peasy baby blanket”, but didn’t like it as much.

I thought that knitting the pattern in a different weight yarn would be OK, but the right angle didn’t look right to me (pun intended).

So I looked for and found this pattern specifically written for an Aran weight yarn. It is really just the diagonal dishcloth pattern which I have used numerous times before and I can see now that in this pattern, too, you do your increases every row (and then your decreases every row). Except in this pattern your increase is done by a YO which creates a nice eyelet border.
