Notes

Comment about the yarn: This linen only softened a little after wet-blocking; perhaps after a few more washes…? Here is what it says about the yarn on the Shibui website: “Linen knits up into light, airy garments that become softer with every wear.
Even though it did not soften right away as I had expected, I do like the yarn and will definitely use it again. It seems to hold its shape well and is so light and airy; perfect for summer.
Comment about the pattern: I like this simple styling; they call it “English tailoring” in the pattern. All the small details (bias bind-offs, shoulder seams etc) seem just right so the whole piece is perfectly fitted. To quote WollyBearDesigns “I like the shape and drape” which is even better after blocking! It is a great layering piece!

  • July 16: Before taking it home for blocking I tried it on the store mannequin for a preview and it fits well :)
I am looking forward to the fiber softening after wet- blocking. It should drape even better.

  • Just finished the optional crochet edging around the arm holes and neckline. This is easy done in the slipped and bias BO stitches using a crochet hook sized close to my knitting needles (4 mm) I used a crochet hook size G.

Looked up the Bias bind off at cocoknits.com. I don’t think I have done it before (or just don’t remember?). It comes out very nice with rounded decreases rather than “steps”.

Decided to make this a as store sample.
Knitted without the pockets.
As this is a store sample with the main objective to showcase the yarn we are not too worried about the sizing, but once it’s made we should be able to advice on how to adjust to the desired size.
The pattern is easy to make and has a simple elegance.
