So, I have been wanting to make this pattern and I have this yarn I really like, but to get the right gauge I will have to double it which makes me feel a tad uneasy since now I am not sure if I have enough and we no longer have that colorway at the store (this skein came home with me out of the clearance bin).
I’ll just try…. I had a couple of rows done when I remembered that I have another thinner yarn in similar color which I could use as second strand instead.
Perfect match;problem solved!!! I just wish that I had thought of this before I cut the Tosh yarn into two balls.

Sizing : after 4” measured from front edge I tried on the hat and measured across my head. I need to have another 9” to make it the perfect fit. So knitting in the round I need 4 1/2 “ of knitting. The crown shaping for size XL makes up for 13 rows which makes up for a little over 2”. So I need to knit another 2 1/2” before starting the crown shaping. These numbers match almost perfectly with helpmeknits advise of knitting 6 1/4” before starting the crown shaping :)
Decided not to make any ties as I love it just the way it is; came out perfectly.
