Notes

I love this pattern. It is so simple yet makes cute and comfy slippers.two_heartstwo_hearts

5.31. One slipper done five ( or seven?) more to go. Now hubby wants me to make a pair for myself, too. He was saying “Bless your little cotton socks”. slightly_smiling_faceheart_eyesslightly_smiling_face

A few tricks for knitting faster:

  • I knit the pair two at a time
  • In the first decrease row I place markers between the k2tog and the ssk to mark where to do the consecutive decreases ( always before and after the marker).
  • In the last row before the three needle bind off I knit 12 sts only, then pull the cable of my cable needle out between the 4th and 5th stitches (magic loop style) to line up all stitches ready for the bind off ( see picture with the blue slipper).

The Crochet finishing. After the crochet “seaming” on the top of the foot, I slip stitch the next two sts around the top part of the leg, then continue with single crochet until I get to the last two sts which I work as slip sts again. Then I pull the last loop long and cut so that the tail comes out of the center of the last stitch. With a darning needle I sew the tail under two legs of the second to last “seam” stitch, then around under the two legs of the last “ seam” stitch and back through the center of my last ( slip) stitch worked. This gives it a nice seamless looking finishing. There are step by step pictures, too. It is pretty much the same technique I use when binding off when knitting in the round ( coffe of a sock). I hope this trick is inspiring and helpful.
