Notes

Someone recently helped out at the LYS where I work and since she is not a knitter, I asked her to pick a pattern and yarn for me to knit up something for her little one ( to be born end of July).
We found the perfect buttons, too. The most difficult task was to decide on the size. It should fit her through winter, about age 3-9 months. Since the pattern only indicates chest size and not age, I googled the approximate size chest at that age and we decided on the smallest size ( 17 inches chest). I hope that works out; you never really know. Here is a link to the size chart for infants and toddlers.
Started end of April and am halfway done after just a day.
I am pretty sure that there will be plenty of yarn left over for a hat.
About the “errata”: To simply say that you finish after a RS row instead of a WS row before dividing for the sleeves, does not solve all of the problem. As written the next three rows are WS, RS, RS. Obviously you need to work another WS row between the two RS rows. I just found it a bit confusing.

4.22.Finished the body which I made a little longer (5 1/2 inches) and bound off using Jenny’s stretchy bind off. Instead of cutting the yarn, I used it to pick up stitches along the RS for the buttonhole band. I worked the buttonholes in ssk, YO, YO, k2tog.
Bound off using Jenny’s stretchy bind off.

4.26. Picked it up again today and did the buttonband and the sleeves which I made 6”long. When I picked up the stitches on the underarm for the sleeves, I made sure to line up the knit stitch of the ribbing ( see photo). For a tapered sleeve I did two decrease rows: Row 16: (P1, P2tog, P1, K1 ) repeat. and Row 21: (P1, P2tog, K1) repeat
For the last 4 rows I switched to US #7 needle.
Bound off using Jenny’s Stretchy Bind Off again.
Blocked.
Sewed on the buttons.
I will knit up a simple headband with the leftover yarn.
