Notes

CO 80 stitches (4x20 on four sock needles). KnitPick was MUCH faster and better to knit than metal needles.
Knit 2, purl 2 for 40 rounds.
Knit for another 40 rounds.
Start decreases:
1st needle: Knit first 2 stitches together from the front,
4th needle: Knit 2 last 2 stitches together from the back.
Knit rows between every decrease. Decrease until the number of stitches is 56 (14 per needle). Knit 5 more rows.
Knit 2, purl 2 15 rounds. Bind off.

Second legwarmer: Knit as the first one but add decorations as follows:
After knitting 24 rows, start “tree trunk”-cable on the 4th stitch of the 3rd needle (repeat 4 times):

  1. T3F, T3B, T3F
  2. p2, k2, p4, k1
  3. p1, C4B, p2, k2
  4. row 2
  5. T3B, T3F, T3B
  6. k1, p4, k2, p2
  7. k2, p2, C4F, p1
  8. row 6

T3F = 2 to cable front, purl 1, knit from cable
T3B = 1 to cable back, knit 2, purl from cable
C4B = 2 to cable, knit 2, knit from cable

After the 8th decrease, add “bush-cable” on the second needle as follows (repeat 2 times):

  1. 3F, 3B, 3F
  2. knit
  3. k1, C4B, k4
  4. row 2
  5. 3B, 3F, 3B
  6. knit
  7. k4, C4F, k1
  8. row 6

3F = 2 to cable front, knit 1, knit from cable
3B = 1 to cable back, knit 2, knit from cable

Crochet tree and bush branches and sow on with same yarn.

The yarn feels good for legwarmers (I would use it for socks as well).
