Notes

Enjoy making these pin loom woven hexagon stockings!

Please note that the yarn mentioned above is sufficient to make all three stockings as shown.

The instructions are the same, whether you use worsted yarn on the original TURTLE Loom or sock yarn on the TURTLE “fine sett”.

Each stocking requires a total of 17 hexagons. The instructions are for a stocking that has a contrast colored hem and heel. If you make any variations, just adjust the number of hexagons that you are weaving in each color.

Weave:
(12) hexagons in the main color for the leg and the foot (MC)
(5) hexagons in a contrasting color for the top and the heel (CC)

Assembly:
The photos provide step-by-step assembly guidance for the stockings.

  • MC, make 4: Sew 3 hexagons into a row, then close to form a ring.
  • CC, make 1: Sew 3 hexagons into a row, then close to form a ring.
  • CC, make 1: Sew 2 hexagons into a row.
  • Sew 2 MC rings and 1 CC ring together for the leg. Put aside.
  • Sew 2 MC rings together for the foot.
  • Sew the 2-hexagon-row in CC unto the foot.
  • Fold the foot as shown in the picture and sew along one side as shown.
  • Sew the leg unto the foot as shown.
  • To form the tip of the foot, sew adjacent sides together. All sewn sides will meet in one point at the tip of the foot.
  • Sew in ends. Add a hanger. Block as desired.

Variations:

  • Use scrap hexagons or variegated yarns to make delightful patchwork stockings.
  • Add a crocheted trim to the top, or fold over the tops and add buttons, or tassels, or pompoms.
  • Embroider initials or small motifs onto the hexagons.
  • Weave a buttonhole into one hem hexagon for easy hanging.
  • Use the same instructions to make larger stockings on the TexaTURTLE™ Loom.
